Cartier Drive de Cartier Review
Introduced at SIHH 2016, the Cartier Drive de Cartier is making waves in the watch community. With a cushion-shaped case, this timepiece continues the Cartier tradition of unique case shapes. This watch includes Cartier’s signature guilloche inner dial, the railroad chapter ring, and the large Roman numerals; however, we believe the modern design will help Cartier tap into a new audience.

Appearance
This may not be true for many watches, but the Cartier Drive works well on both large and small wrists. The large numerals and sword hands draw attention to this 40mm watch, while the tapered case makes this watch appear thinner than it actually is. Overall, this is a masculine watch that can be both casual or dressy. The Drive comes in steel or gold with white, black, or grey dials.
From the Brand
According to Cartier, the watch design was inspired by vintage cars. The design on the dial draws from old radiator grills and the crown takes the shape of a bolt.
Movement
The automatic movement (caliber 1904MC-PS) is made in-house. This same movement was used in the Calibre de Chronograph, but it appears that Cartier has improved the finishing on the Drive. The movement is visible through a sapphire-glass caseback.
Price
The Cartier Drive starts at $6,250 for the steel model with a white dial and it goes up to $19,600 for the rose gold model with a gray dial. The steel model is a relative bargain for an attractive watch with in-house automatic movement. Additionally, this watch comes from a well-known respected brand. It’s a win-win.
